Did you know that car donation can help your favorite non-profit and the environment? According to the Automotive Recycling Association, 80% of your car can be recycled and reused helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the automotive manufacturing industry. And, when donated to a deserving charity through Car Donation Wizard, it can also help raise crucial funds while providing you with a tax deduction. That’s what we consider a win – win – win!
An estimated 12 million vehicles are recycled in the United States each year. Many of these vehicles simply reach the end of their drivability naturally and some are taken off the road early by accidents, either way, these end of life vehicles are a vital fundraising resource for thousands of non-profits and many are also helping to reduce carbon emissions when recycled properly.
The life cycle of a car involves many industries and at ARS we are proud to be a small – but vital! – step in this environmental success story. We direct many of the vehicles we process for charitable donations and our other clients to licensed recycling partners – 177,648 since our founding in 2007 to be exact! According to a carbon reduction study performed by Worcester Polytech Institute evaluating Automotive Recyclers of Massachusetts, by ensuring those 177,648 vehicles were directed into the hands of automotive recyclers instead of landfills, we helped to reduce 2,308,311 metric tons of carbon dioxide. According to the EPA’s carbon counting calculator, this is the equivalent of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from 502,011 passenger vehicles driven for one year and is the amount of carbon sequestered by 2.828,091 acres of US forests in one year. Not too shabby!
In addition to being a step along the vehicle recycling journey, we are proud to partner with non-profit organizations delivering a variety of social impact services including the building of homes, funding research and patient services, fighting hunger, providing access to sport for individuals with intellectual disabilities, protecting pets and animals, preserving public radio, and serving our honored military families and veterans. Since our inception we have helped our charity partners raise over $225,000,000 for their causes. Raising money and helping the environment? We like to call that feeding two birds with one seed.
